Will my Etsy sale still be profitable after a discount?
The calculator reduces the original listing price by the discount first, then calculates the supported Etsy fees on the resulting order and subtracts the costs you actually pay to fulfil it. That shows whether a 10%, 20%, 30% or other sale is still profitable rather than judging the discount from revenue alone.
The result separates the discount itself from Etsy fees and seller costs so you can see which part of the sale is reducing the margin.
Etsy fees are calculated from the discounted order
Transaction-related fees use the post-discount order amounts that apply to the sale, including buyer-paid shipping when relevant. Shipping charged to the buyer is therefore different from the shipping cost you pay to deliver the order.
The calculation can include the listing fee, transaction fee, Etsy Payments processing fee, applicable regulatory operating fee, Offsite Ads and currency conversion when those settings apply to the order.
Use the calculator before scheduling a sale
Enter product cost, seller-paid shipping, packaging, labour and other per-order costs before deciding how deep a discount can be. A sale can increase order volume while still reducing the amount you keep on each order.
If your question is the listing price needed to keep a fixed target profit rather than the profit after a discount, use the Etsy Reverse Pricing Calculator instead.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate Etsy profit after a discount?
Apply the percentage discount to the original item price, add any other order revenue, then subtract the applicable Etsy fees and your seller costs. This calculator performs those steps.
Are Etsy fees charged on the discounted price?
The calculator uses the post-discount item price in the order amounts used for transaction-related fees, together with other applicable revenue such as shipping charged to the buyer.
Can I calculate a 20% or 30% Etsy sale?
Yes. Enter any valid percentage discount and the calculator shows the discounted item price, fees, profit and margin for the inputs provided.
Can I include Etsy Offsite Ads in the discounted sale?
Yes. Choose the applicable Offsite Ads setting when the order is attributed to an Offsite Ad. That can materially change profit on a discounted order.
Does this include my product and shipping costs?
Yes, when you enter them. Product cost, seller-paid shipping, packaging, labour and other costs are included separately from Etsy fees.
What is the difference between revenue and profit after a discount?
Revenue is the money generated by the order before fees and costs. Net profit is what remains after the estimated Etsy fees and seller costs are deducted.
Should I use this or the Etsy Fee Calculator?
Use this tool when the decision is specifically about a percentage sale or coupon. Use the main Etsy Fee Calculator for a normal sale or broader fee and margin analysis.
