How much should I charge on Etsy to offer free shipping?

Free shipping changes where the shipping cost is recovered; it does not remove the cost of fulfilment. Enter the shipping amount you expect to pay and the target profit margin you want, and the calculator solves for the minimum listing price that can absorb both the shipping cost and the supported Etsy fees.

Because Etsy fees also respond to the listing price, simply adding your shipping cost dollar-for-dollar to the old price does not necessarily preserve the same margin.

Free shipping price vs seller-paid shipping cost

The calculator sets buyer-paid shipping revenue to zero. Your actual postage or courier cost is entered as a seller cost, alongside product cost, packaging, labour and other costs that apply to the order.

If the order may be attributed to Etsy Offsite Ads or involves currency conversion, include those settings before relying on the suggested price because they can increase the price needed for the same margin.

Target margin is different from a fixed target profit

A target margin is the percentage of revenue you want to remain as net profit. As the listing price changes, the currency amount of profit needed to maintain that percentage changes too.

If you want to keep a specific amount such as $20 or £15 per order instead of a percentage margin, use the Etsy Reverse Pricing Calculator, which solves for a fixed target net profit.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I raise my Etsy price for free shipping?

There is no universal fixed increase because fees and other costs also affect the required price. Enter your real shipping cost and target margin to calculate a price from your own numbers.

Does free shipping mean I set shipping charged to the buyer to zero?

Yes. This calculator models buyer-paid shipping as zero and treats the shipping amount you pay as a seller cost.

Does Etsy still charge fees when I build shipping into the item price?

Yes. The higher listing price is still part of the order revenue used by applicable Etsy fees, which is why the required price is not always the old price plus postage.

Can I set a target profit margin?

Yes. Enter the net profit margin you want and the calculator finds the minimum cent-level listing price that reaches it under the inputs provided.

Can Offsite Ads change the free-shipping price I need?

Yes. If an attributed order is subject to an Offsite Ads fee, the price required to preserve the same margin can be higher.

Should I include packaging and labour?

Include them when they are real per-order costs you want the price to cover. Leaving costs out can make the suggested price look more profitable than the real order.

What is the difference between this and Etsy Reverse Pricing?

This tool solves for a price at a target profit margin with buyer shipping set to zero. Reverse Pricing solves for the price needed to keep a fixed currency amount of net profit.
